Controls Guide

A complete reference for every key, mouse action, and control mechanic in Endacopia.

Last updated:

Endacopia uses a dual-control system: standard point-and-click overworld navigation and a first-person fighting mode during combat encounters. This guide covers both.

Overworld Controls

The overworld is the main exploration mode. You move Mellow through rooms and interact with objects.

Keyboard

KeyAction
WMove forward
AMove left
SMove backward
DMove right
EOpen inventory
IOpen inventory (alternate)
EscClose menus / Pause
EnterConfirm dialogue / Advance text

Mouse

ActionResult
Left-clickInteract with highlighted object / Confirm menu selection
Right-clickCycle to next available action on hovered object (“do what”)
HoverHighlight interactive objects
Scroll wheel(Used in specific mini-games)

Action Cycling

The right-click mechanic is unique to Endacopia. When you hover over an object, a small label shows the current available action (examine, pick up, use, talk, etc.). Right-clicking cycles through all actions available for that object. This means nearly every object has multiple things you can do with it — not just one.

Inventory System

KeyAction
E / IOpen inventory
EscClose inventory
Left-click itemSelect item
Left-click object in worldUse selected item on object
Right-click item(No special action in current demo)

Once you pick up an item, it goes into Mellow’s pockets. Open the inventory, select the item, then click on something in the world to use it. Some items must be used in specific combinations to trigger events.

Combat Mode Controls

When you trigger a combat encounter, the screen changes to a first-person view and a different control scheme activates.

Combat Keyboard

KeyAction
(No movement keys in combat)Combat is entirely mouse-driven

Combat Mouse

ActionResult
Mouse movement (left-right)Position Mellow’s fists horizontally across the screen
Left-clickAttack — throw a punch, costs stamina
Right-clickBlock — raise guard, costs stamina

Stamina System

Both attacking and blocking consume stamina. If your stamina bar is empty:

  • You cannot attack
  • You cannot block
  • You are vulnerable to all incoming hits

Stamina does not regenerate automatically mid-combat. You must wait for brief windows between the enemy’s attacks to regenerate. Effective stamina management is the core of all Endacopia combat.

Enemy Telegraph System

Enemies like Clocky telegraph their attacks visually. In Clocky’s case, watch the clock hands on its face. When they begin a striking animation, you have a short window to block. If you block too early or too late, the block fails and you take damage.

Mini-Game Controls

Endacopia includes at least one mini-game in the demo: the soccer ball kicking challenge. Mini-games have their own control schemes that override the standard controls.

Soccer Ball Mini-Game

ActionResult
Left-clickKick the ball (timing-based)
Mouse positionDoes not affect the kick in this mini-game

Timing tip: Watch Mellow’s eyes during the kick. The eyes have three positions (top, centre, bottom) corresponding to the ball’s vertical position. Click when the eyes move from the centre to the bottom position. Turn off background music and distractions for best results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I remap the keyboard controls? A: The current demo does not support key rebinding. The full game may add this feature.

Q: Does Endacopia support gamepad controllers? A: The demo works best with mouse and keyboard. Some players have reported using controllers, but the game was designed for keyboard and mouse. The Steam Deck page lists compatibility as unknown.

Q: Why does right-clicking sometimes do nothing? A: Not every object has multiple actions. If an object only has one available action, right-clicking will cycle back to the start or do nothing. Try left-clicking to use the default action.

FAQ

Quick answers to common questions about Endacopia.

Is there a sprint or run button?

No. Mellow moves at a fixed walking pace. There is no sprint mechanic in the demo.

Both E and I open the inventory. Use whichever feels natural.

Can I skip cutscenes?

Some dialogue can be advanced with Enter or Left-click. Cutscenes with no dialogue generally cannot be skipped in the demo.
